I just wish we could all figure out the "why" and "when" of it all.

P.S. I have a very similar picture of Jonah walking into the woods.

(hugs)Amyhttp://www.winklett.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30135915.post-11063723272725971272013-02-16T16:32:12.827-05:002013-02-16T16:32:12.827-05:00Nick has had a much better day today!! He is laughing, smiling, making happy noises :) The meltdowns he has had today have been much less intense and do not last nearly as long. They are also not happening every 15-20 minutes. So far, so good. Now his fits are destructive but not aggressive or screaming. It sucks to feel so helpless. I hope things improve. Thinking of you!Emmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02859791572622007142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30135915.post-55882155062201150442013-02-15T18:34:19.582-05:002013-02-15T18:34:19.582-05:00Hi Amy:
When Nick has the "body jerks" ...Hi Amy:

When Nick has the "body jerks" and "facial tics," these may likely be due to the Risperdal side effects. Nick's aggression and self-injury might possibly be helped by adding a Serotonergic medicine. Also, Nick might need an alpha and beta adrenergic antagonist like Doxazosin, Propranolol or Bystolic, just to name a few. Ask the doctor about these. The IASO Modulating Adrenegic System treatment* that Eddie has undergone has helped with reducing some anxiety in him while under stress. However, the other aspects of property damage and improper conduct that he has exhibited is very tricky to reduce or eliminate. First, the behaviors are learned and habitual. We have to use both behavioral and medical methods and the behavioral is sometimes difficult. Right now the medicinal method is working to reduce anxiety and help with mood. *For reference on IASO see http://hopefortheviolentlyaggressivechild.com

GildaAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13277008395374863676noreply@blogger.com
